Based on their cheeky personalities, funny little habits and the special bond they shared, these stories bring my much-loved pets to life through magical adventures in Wiggle Town – a place named after the adorable way they wiggle their little bottoms as they walk!
I became completely obsessed with these wonderful little characters, and before long, one story turned into many. What began as a single idea soon grew into a whole collection of adventures, each filled with friendship, kindness, teamwork, laughter and important life lessons for children aged 4–7.
The Beach Adventure is where our journey begins, with many more exciting adventures still to come.

Pluto
The gentle giant with a heart as big as his appetite.
Meet Pluto, the gentle giant behind The Rat Tales. With his love of sweetcorn, curious nose and kind heart, Pluto inspired one of the series' most lovable characters. Whether he's exploring, snacking or looking after his friends Bobby and Snoopy, Pluto always reminds us that being kind is the greatest adventure of all.
Bobby
The fearless explorer with a mischievous streak.
Bobby is the little adventurer of the group. Brave, curious and full of energy, he's always the first to explore something new. His playful personality and cheeky antics inspired one of the most lovable characters in The Rat Tales, proving that a little curiosity can lead to the biggest adventures.
Snoopy
Sweet, shy and always happiest close to his friends. Snoopy proves that even the quietest heroes can be incredibly brave.

Did you know?
Pet rats love sweetcorn, broccoli and peas—but chocolate is dangerous for them!
Pluto's Favourite
Sweetcorn is a great treat, and guess who loves his sweetcorn? That's right..... PLUTO!
A Healthy Diet for Pet Rats
1. High-quality rat food (75–80% of the diet)
This should be their main food every day.
Choose a complete rat pellet or nugget rather than a seed mix, because nuggets prevent rats from picking out only their favourite bits.
🥦 2. Fresh vegetables (daily)
Offer a variety, such as:
- Broccoli
- Carrots
- Peas
- Sweetcorn (Pluto's favourite!)
- Green beans
- Courgette
- Bell peppers
- Cucumber
- Pak choi
- Kale (in moderation)
3. Fruit (2–3 times a week)
Fruit is a treat because it's naturally high in sugar.
Good choices include:
- Apple (without seeds)
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Banana (small amounts)
- Pear
- Melon
- Grapes (occasionally)
🌽 4. Whole grains
Healthy extras include:
- Cooked brown rice
- Wholemeal pasta
- Oats
- Wholegrain cereal (unsweetened)
- Cooked quinoa
A Healthy Diet for Pet Rats
5. Protein (once or twice a week)
Especially useful for younger, growing rats.
Examples:
- Cooked chicken
- Boiled egg
- Tuna in spring water (small amounts)
- Plain cooked salmon
- Mealworms (as treats)
🧀 6. Healthy treats
- Sweetcorn
- Pea flakes
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sunflower seeds (sparingly)
- Small pieces of walnut or almond
- Plain popcorn (air-popped)
💧 Fresh water
Always provide clean, fresh water in a bottle or heavy bowl and change it daily.
FOODS TO AVOID
Never feed:
- Chocolate
- Caffeine (tea, coffee, energy drinks)
- Raw kidney beans
- Green potato or potato sprouts
- Blue cheese
- Mouldy food
- Sticky foods such as large spoonful's of peanut butter (they can be a choking hazard)
- Sugary sweets
- Salty crisps
- Fizzy drinks
How Much?
Adult rats generally eat around 15–25 grams of complete food per day, plus a small serving of fresh vegetables.
